Monserrate Palace: frequently asked questions
Is this the official Monserrate website?
No. Pena Palace Visit is an independent visitor guide. The official site is parquesdesintra.pt. Our tickets are sold by our partner Tiqets.
How much does a ticket cost?
12 € for an adult on the official site and on Tiqets, one ticket for the palace and the park. Prices read on 22 October 2026.
Is the palace open despite the works?
Yes. Roof works continue until the end of the first quarter of 2027, and the palace stays open with scaffolding and a temporary roof cover.
How do I get there from Sintra?
Bus 435 from the station, or bus 1253. On foot it is 3.5 km from the old town, about 46 minutes by our estimate.
Can I bring a dog?
Yes, dogs are allowed in the park, according to the official FAQ.
What time is the last entry?
The park, 18:00. The palace, 17:00 (the official page also lists 17:30: we use the earlier time).
Is there a guided tour?
Yes, on Tiqets: a ticket with a guided tour of about 1 hour 30 in English or Portuguese, 17 €.
How long should I allow?
Baedeker’s 1913 guide suggested one to two hours for the visit. Our estimate for the palace and the park is 2 to 3 hours.
